Samaritan Center

Syracuse, New York

The historic St. John the Evangelist Church has been successfully re-purposed into the new home of the Samaritan Center; a not-for-profit organization that serves meals to the hungry and homeless of Syracuse, NY. Dalpos is proud to have provided pro bono architectural services to help the Samaritan Center accomplish their goal of relocating to a permanent location which enabled them to increase their capacity and expand their community services. The retrofit design goals for this project was to retain the historic beauty of the original church and its features while efficiently integrating a commercial kitchen and serve line. This provided a welcoming dining experience for over 115,000 guests per year. In 2015, the CNYAIA recognized this project with an Award of Merit.

"The renovation phases were particularly difficult with hazmat abatement considerations and working around patients. Dalpos remained committed throughout the project and provided outstanding integration, communication, and results."
