John A. Ceresoli's story
My interests have always involved the construction process………from the smallest weekend home project to very large and complex multi-million dollar facilities.
Growing up as the son of a carpenter, I often found myself on job sites helping at an early age. While my role was limited at first, this exposure to the construction industry paved the way for my career decisions later in life. It was not long before I was working alongside my father and actually contributing.
I still remember one very hot summer day; we were framing a house addition thinking my arms were going to fall off from swinging the hammer. It was that moment that I realized that while the actual construction was very rewarding, I think I would prefer to take a different path in the construction industry………. become an Architect.
To this day, I miss the actual construction work………. which probably explains the various home projects that I have undertaken over the years. There is no better satisfaction or sense of accomplishment than seeing the finished product completed with your own hands.
After graduation, my career started at Stetson Dale, a large firm based in Utica, NY. For the 19 years, and 3 company name changes through acquisitions, I was fortunate to move up to the position of Head of Architecture and Engineering. Due to the size of the company, I had the opportunity to be involved with a multitude of project types and market areas. It was the involvement in the Healthcare market that interested me the most and ultimately set the tone for my future path.
After spending 5 years as the Director of the Syracuse office of Francis Cauffman, a Philadelphia based healthcare design firm, I decided to join Dal Pos to continue my career with the focus on developing a design presence for the firm in the Healthcare market.
I often look back at my professional accomplishments and can’t help thinking about the early days and the influence it had on my life and career.
